About Jenny Pippin, FAIBD, CPBD

My name is Jennifer Beaman Pippin, most people call me Jenny. I am an artistic free spirit, intuitive, creative, and an open-minded non-conformist. I believe in doing most things differently, thinking out of the box, and being ahead of the curve. My top priority is to ‘Listen’ to my clients. I grew up on a farm in eastern NC, spending a lot of time working in the tobacco fields and playing in the woods as a kid, connected to nature. I believe in utilizing the natural features of the site, the views and the movement of the sun across the property, to create a comfortable home uniquely suited to its environment; homes which are healthy, durable and loveable. My designs incorporate the unique visions of each individual client, making them authentic to the homeowner and the site.

I believe that people should fully enjoy living in their homes from the time they move in, not keeping it ‘neutral’ for the next owner.I love color and believe that is one of the most important things to use to bring life and positive energy to a home, it makes a beneficial difference in people’s lives; it’s like daily color therapy!

I possess a wealth of expertise in exceptional home design and construction documentation, from 30 years of experience. I started my career in the Raleigh area working with various building companies, first designing traditional style homes, then contemporary ones; following that I had the opportunity to work at a custom home design firm, which exposed me to creating one-of-a-kind homes and I knew this was to be my niche. Each client has a unique vision, which keeps my creativity fresh and activated with each new project.

During this time, I had the opportunity to live in a passive solar home for a year, gaining the appreciation and knowledge of this type of home design. At the same time, I experienced a terrible car crash, leaving me with a broken back and in a body cast. This experience showed me what it was like to live in a home that could not accommodate a person with a physical disability, as I struggled with the inefficient layout of the design. These two experiences taught me important lessons which led me to pioneer the ‘green’ and ‘universal’ design movements, long before they became popular design concepts. Next, I moved to Lake Norman, where I have lived on the lake since 1987, becoming an expert in designing ‘homes with a view’.

Along the way, I have acquired training in Feng Shui and Classical Architecture, achieving diplomas in both Green Building and Renewable Energy Technologies. I compliment these skills with an innate ability to communicate with the land and envision a client’s home on the site, before the designs are even begun on paper. I am anationally acclaimed, award-winning Residential Design Specialist. My company, Pippin Home Designs, Inc., is a full-service residential design firm, specializing in environmentally friendly custom new home and renovation designs, with the unique ability to leverage any type of view. My projects are located across multi-states along the eastern US and range in size from 600 sq.ft. to 17,000 sq.ft., with most of them being water-front properties in the Charlotte and Lake Norman areas, along with mountain view homes in the Blowing Rock, NC area.

In addition to creating the Concepts, Designs and Construction Drawings for new homes and renovations, my credentials include 25 years as a Professional member of the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) and recently inducted into the College of Fellows as a Fellow, the highest membership level in the association, as nominated by my peers for excellence in Design and education; and as a Certified Professional Building Designer (CPBD) with the national Council of Building Designer Certification; a Professional Member of the AIBD, North Carolina Society, having served three terms as the state President; I hold Diplomas from NC State University in Green Building and a Renewable Energy Technology; and I was a licensed NC General Contractor for 10 years, a member of the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) and past Co-Chair of the Lake Norman Home Builders Associations Green Building Council (LNHBA-GBC); offering Construction Observation services, working for the homeowner as a liaison, with the entire construction team. I have also served on the national AIBD Universal and Sustainable Design Committee and am currently a member of the national AIBD High Performance Homes Team. My annual investment into continuing education helps me stay on the cutting edge in the design industry.

The homes I have designed reflect the diversity and uniqueness that has given me the reputation as the designer for "homes with a view." Take a step towards extraordinary and explore the exceptional capabilities I will bring to your new home or renovation project.
