Home Building Tips: What Is a Home Systems Integrator?
Technology has migrated to the homefront with lightning speed. Each home system now has a technological aspect to it's operation and installation. Until recently, these technologies were designed and installed as separate systems. Today, manufacturers, savvy builders and designers realize the value-added approach of coordinating and integrating all home systems for greater ease in installation, use, cost efficiency and convenience. As a result, a home technology systems professional is now a core member of the design/build team.
Next month, we'll discuss items to take into consideration when integrating your home systems.

From Jenny's Design Board
A 25 acre mountain property with awesome views and several ponds offers seemingly endless possiblities for creating a beautiful custom home, so when this family came to us with their ideas, we were excited to help them develop their vision into a reality.
As the lodge style design has taken shape with some exposed timber details, some interesting aspects to the home have been incorporated. For example, an 8 foot cube shape will function on three sides as a fireplace in the living, dining and covered porch areas, with a fourth side offering wood storage. Solid masonry will set the stage for the focal point above one of the mantles, the owner's prized elk head.

New Trends and Exciting Ideas From Las Vegas
January usually reminds us of those snowy, cold days between the holidays and the first signs of Spring, but for thousands of home builders, January means attending the International Builders Show.
A four day event, the Builders Show allows professionals from all aspects of the industry the opportunity to interact with their peers, learn about exciting new trends and see innovative products. By combining these elements, the Builders Show has become an event that any quality building professional does not want to miss.
In addition to attending seminars on design trends, "Affordable Million Dollar Details" and designing smaller homes, I was able to personally tour one of Sarah Susanka's famous "Not So Big" homes. I also gathered information on products, from hand blown glass vanity bowls to stainless steel cabinetry and the "Humidifall" in-wall humidifying waterfall.

New Office Update
When we've talked to clients and friends that drive by our new office on a regular basis, the operative word in their description of the new look seems to be, "Wow!".
While a great deal of work remains to be done inside the 1911 building, the exterior transformation is what has caught the attention of passers-by. Leaving behind the monotony of the plain gray and weathered white exterior, we have chosen a vivid green with crisp, new white trim to complement the new Pella windows on the office. Stay tuned as we move closer to our move-in date and watch for more improvements.
