Ernie & Kim Irvan Residence Mooresville, NC
7288 sq. ft. living space; 1183 sq. ft. unheated; 800sq. ft. four-car, heated garage. 9271 sq.ft. total under roof.
The Irvan's requested an informal design for their equestrian estate home with the emphasis on fun, entertainment and low maintenance, giving them the feel of a big 'playhouse' for their family. The U-shape of the home gives them a private courtyard around the outdoor entertaining areas with views from all rooms of the swimming pool, surrounding woods and horse pastures.

For the Irvan's home, they chose a Mediterranean style with a tile roof and stucco finish. It was created to match the style of an existing horse barn already on the property. It was built on a knoll over-looking the horse pastures and riding trails.

The view from the Foyer into the Great Room is flanked by 2 large stone columns and archway, with see-through art niches beside the columns. This room is a 2-story space with a cathedral ceiling, featuring a wall of windows onto the view of the pool and children's playground beyond.

The theme of the columns, arches and art niches is carried into the Dining Room and throughout the home. This room is open to the Kitchen and over-looks the Dining Porch on the rear of the home.
For their love of outdoor entertaining, a Summer Kitchen was designed into one of the rear porches, near the pool and hot tub areas.
One of the many rooms in the home painted with custom murals is a child's bedroom, featuring a colorful and whimsical design, continuing the playful feel of the home for their children.
As a benefit to the lucky visitors at their home, the private Guest Suite was created with access to a Sitting Porch with a view of the pool. It was also custom painted with a mural of drapes flanking the doors to the porch and oak leaves on the walls.
