Home Building Tips: Post Construction

Once the home is complete, there will still be finishing touches, commonly referred to as a punch list. You and your design/build team should conduct a walkthrough of your home inside and out to determine what should be on the punch list and agree upon a time frame for all items to be completed. A quality custom home builder will also be interested in maintaining the relationship long after your home is built. Expect your builder to provide a contact person in case problems or situations should arise.

Pippin's Projects: Just What the Doctor Ordered
Creating a warm open atmosphere was the goal of the Campbell's home design. The home takes full advantage of the lakefront scenery by using a stepped room layout that allow views from the master suite, children's rooms, living and dining rooms, as well as the kitchen and covered porches. The Craftsman-style two- story home features a full basement that includes Campbell's workshop, complete with woodworking and finishing areas. The outside of the home achieved its unique look with hardi-shake siding and a stone foundation and incorporates exposed timber beams built by the homeowner.

From Jenny's Design Board

In search of plans to develop their six acre farm in Lincoln County, Ron & Cheryl Glasscox contacted Pippin Home Designs, Inc. to create a custom design for their new home. While the Glasscox are still refining preliminary designs of the home, they are currently developing this unique one story home of hardi-shake with stone accents and metal roofing.

The Lodge-style home incorporates custom made double front doors from their existing home. Along with a distinctive exterior, the home's interior floorplan has been created specifically to meet their lifestyle. A large master suite includes both a cedar closet and separate his and hers closets, and the sleeping area opens to a private screened porch with an outdoor fireplace. In addition, a large summer kitchen is planned to overlook the pool area.

SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM JENNY

Identity fraud is an event that we all hope to never encounter and one that most of us are unprepared for. However, like countless thousands of other Americans, I have also been a victim of Identity Fraud.

Thanks to the thoroughness of one credit card company, I was made aware of the thieve's intentions to open credit cards in my name before charges were actually incurred. However, this does not change the seriousness of the offense and only minimizes the damages that have already been done to my credit report.

I want to take this opportunity to warn everyone to the threat of Identity Fraud. While dealing with this situation, I encountered a website that offers some great suggestions to avoid becoming a victim, as well as tips on what to do if you are a victim.

New Office Update

Last month we introduced you to our new office location, a house in Cornelius built in 1911 which we have begun remodeling in preparation for our move in March 2004. Following a small celebration on the evening after our closing on the property, the work promptly began.

As the traditional centerhall building embarks on it's transformation into our modern office space, we have begun by demolishing much of the interior and installing new Pella Windows. Planned for this month, are lots of exterior updates including a new color palette.
