Master Suite and Exterior Renovation - Addition
Meyers Park, Charlotte, NC
1,015 sq.ft. additional living space was added to 2,750 sq. ft. of original house.

This national award-winning renovation maintained and enhanced the integrity of this 50-year old home while transforming a cramped master bedroom into a dynamic, breath-taking master suite which allows total enjoyment inside or outside on the Charleston-style second-story porch.

In addition to designing the addition and the built-in cabinetry, Jennifer Pippin also stayed involved as a part of the project team to see the addition through to completion. Pippin Home Designs project management service has proven to be a valuable asset to homeowners concerned about ensuring total quality control during every aspect of the project.

The front view was not altered during the renovation, but depicts the necessity to carry over certain design elements into the renovation in order to create a seamless transition from the old to the new.

The new exterior offers better aesthetic balance to the home's rear view and outdoor living spaces for the family to enjoy during warmer seasons. The Charleston-style porches feature rounded tapering tuscan columns to compliment the columns on the front of the house.

The layout of the bedroom is a study of angles and parallels. The angled bedroom allows space for a second walk-in closet while creating a parallel with the fireplace and sitting area. The room drinks in light through the French doors of the Charleston porch and the double Palladian windows over the tub and within the interior wall transom separating the master bath from the bedroom. Skylights from the Cathedral ceiling add yet another dimension of light.
