This "quintessentially Southern" lakefront home was designed so that its retired owners could take take full advantage of their beautiful waterfront view. The main goal was to recreate an old Southern Plantation-style home on a small scale.

The home offers many unique features including:

  • Built-in speakers in raised fireplace hearth.
  • A center dormer chandelier placed on a cable that can be lowered for cleaning
  • Direct access to the laundry room hamper from the master suite
  • A hidden radio inside the master bath whirlpool tub
  • Central wiring to allow access to all hi-fi components throughout the house
  • Pivoting lattice panels under the streetside porch for additional storage of lawn equipment
 

 

The house was situated on the lot to face the main channel view of the lake. Unlike many homes on the lake, this home was designed for the front entrance to be accessed from lakeside versus roadside.
 

Considered the favorite spot to relax and enjoy the lake view, this "outdoor living space" is further enhanced with the classic touch of the fluted Ionic columns. The railings are notched into place for easy removal and maintenance.
 

There is no better place to be at sunset, looking past the fluted columns onto the lake from the Thompson home.
 

The open design of the home allows the interior to be filled with natural light during the day. The loft serves as a sewing/hobby room.
 

The cleverly designed galley-style kitchen allows for amenities usually reserved for larger kitchen spaces including a laundry area, a built-in desk and an open and easily accessible built-in pantry (pictured).
