What to Bring - First Meeting

In this first meeting, we will be talking about your ideas and goals for your new home, so it is helpful to bring the following information to ensure a highly productive and inspired meeting with us!
  1. Site survey and topographical information, if possible. If your property has any slope to it at all, the topographical survey will greatly assist us in the design of your home when we’re determining if your lot slopes enough for including a Basement, if that is in your goals. It will also indicate whether or not your lot will require retaining walls.
  2. County Health Department Well and Septic Permit, if your property will require an on-site well and septic system. This information will indicate where the system will be located on your site, so that the home can be designed around it, based on the setback rules.
  3. Original house plans or As-Builts: If you are coming to us for a renovation or addition, having your original house plans, any updated plans and/or as-built plans will save you money in having to have As Builts created.
  4. The Homeowner’s Association’s Architectural Guidelines, if your property is located within a subdivision which requires the approval of your plans prior to construction.
  5. Scrapbooks, Pintrest board, IdeaBooks: Be prepared to share your digital scrapbook of your inspirational photos and images that you may have saved on a Pinterest board or in Houzz Ideabooks, or magazine clippings. Having them all of these organized in some way, with your notes, will serve to guide the inspiration for your new home design.
  6. List of your priorities and goals for your new home, things you do want and things you do not want.
  7. Let us know who you are and about your lifestyle. Be prepared to tell us who you are, who will live in this home, what your regular routines are like, and how you want to live in your new home; will you work from home, entertain with family and friends, etc. Do you have any special concerns, such as allergies, sensitivities to noise or building materials, etc. This will become your project brief to share with us.
  8. Bring any idea sketches you may have created yourself.
  9. A budget range: Be prepared to share your budget goal, as this will be especially useful in determining the size and level of detail that will go into the design of your new home.
  10. List of items bringing into the home: Prepare a list of furniture or other specific items you know you will be bringing into this new home, such as art collections, vehicles, gym equipment, office equipment, etc.
  11. Have questions ready that you would like to discuss with us regarding our process or timelines, or anything else regarding your new home.
