Preserving the topsoil on your property is a no-brainer. Think about it: why would you damage and remove your property's valuable topsoil during construction, only to spend extra on importing replacement soil when the project is done? Despite current regulations and practices, this approach lacks ethical excavation principles. The persistence of this outdated practice is a result of insufficient awareness about better alternatives.

The Story of Soil: What It Is, What It Isn’t, and Why You NEED to Protect Soils on Your Property9/11/2023 Easy is often confused for affordable. In the case of home construction, it may be easier to clear your land completely and wipe the slate clean. After all, this is what the typical construction team is accustomed to. However, this unnecessary technique costs you more money in the long run. And sacrifices too much time before you’re able to enjoy the beauty of your outdoor living spaces. Mother Nature inspires us with her brilliance on multiple levels. At the surface level, her beautiful forms leave us awestruck. To a deeper degree, the behavior of her organisms adds another dimension of amazement. From an expanded view, the interaction of all species in an ecosystem begins to look like a living, breathing, evolving tapestry woven together with the systems developed over millennia. This blog is likely to inspire a deep yet dormant intuitive knowing that we all have buried within us. The knowing that we are not alone…nor do we have to solve the many riddles of life by ourselves. The understanding that we are literally surrounded by genius as a result of 3.8 billion years of research and development from the natural world. Sustainable design is now considered obsolete by many in the industry. Trying to prevent further damage to the environment through sustainable design is like applying a band-aid to a bullet wound. A more forward-thinking approach is necessary. Regenerative home design holds the key to our future by reversing ecological damage, repairing what has been lost, and contributing to a positive impact on the environment and our health. Can intentional design techniques and an enhanced connection to nature be the prescription needed to heal mind, body, and soul? Our current modern world is filled with discomfort, disease, and disconnection as people have moved indoors away from the healing properties of nature. Finding our way back to health, happiness, and wellness may include a home plan intentionally designed with biophilia in mind. |
